Frazadas are beautiful pieces of textiles handwoven by the local artisans of the central Andes. Frazadas take about a month to complete. They are made with sheep's wool coloured with natural dyes which create thick and colourful pieces, each unique in colour and design.
Due to the time and effort required to create these exquisite textiles and the rise of the mining industry in Peru, artisans are going in search of better sources of income to provide for their families and as a result the practice of weaving these textiles is in decline. Frazadas and other traditional handmade products are becoming more and more scarce.
The frazadas we sell are from Peru. Style them as a rug, throw, bed covering or wall hanging.
